Kelman was formed in 1994, based on a vision to design new and exciting products. Kelman was initially focused on the electrical industry and during the first few years of operation a number of award winning products were developed, including LV auto-reclosers, circuit breaker analysers and fault location equipment.

| In 2002 Kelman became involved in the railway sector and launched SIGNET, an automatic reconfiguration system for power supplies to rail signalling network. This product continues to be an integral part of the modernisation of the UK rail network. | | Early 2003 saw Kelman move into the area of Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), which is the essential test for condition monitoring of electrical transformers. With cutting-edge technology Kelman has helped revolutionise DGA practice with the release of both portable and on-line DGA equipment. These products are now being used successfully by most of the world´s largest utilities. Kelman will also be shortly launching new products for partial discharge, bushing testing and monitoring for G.I.S. | |

The company has expanded to have engineering and sales offices in England, USA, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Denmark, China, South Africa, India, UAE, Japan, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile and Brasil. Furthermore Kelman has recently opened new offices in North America (Los Angeles) and in China (Bejing, Guangzhou and Xi'an). More new facilities are planned throughout the course for 2008 and 2009 as the product portfolio increases.
